Hugh L. NARRAMORE

     Hugh L. NARRAMORE was born in 1824 in Kentucky.

Hugh married Mary Ann Elizabeth MATHEWS, daughter of Henry James MATHEWS and Martha Ann Frances COLEMAN, on 26 November 1868 in Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama. This was the second marriage for Mr. Narramore. He is believed to have lived in Bibb county before moving to Prattville where he operated a saddle and harness shop.1

Hugh L. NARRAMORE and Mary Ann Elizabeth MATHEWS appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 10 June 1870 in Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama. The household was listed as Hugh L. Narramore, a 45-year-old harness manufacturer, and his wife, Mary E., 34. Their eldest son was Charley, 19, who worked in his father's harness shop. Their other children were Emma, 14, and in school; Ida, 9; Belle, 7; William, 5; Hugh, Jr., 3; and Ellen, 15, no occupation.2

Hugh L. NARRAMORE and Mary Ann Elizabeth MATHEWS appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 17 June 1880 in Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama. The household was listed as Hugh L. Narrimore, 56-year-old harness maker, born in Kentucky, and Mary E. Narramore, his 34-year-old Alabama born wife. Their three oldest children, 18-year-old Ida S., 16-year-old Isabella, and 13-year-old Hugh, Jr., all worked in the cotton mill. Their remaining children were Henry, 9, and John, 5.3

Hugh L. NARRAMORE died in Autauga County, Alabama. He was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.
