Mildred Ann OWEN

F, b. 22 May 1812, d. 13 July 1890
     Mildred Ann OWEN, daughter of Daniel Grant OWEN and Sarah WILLIS, was born on 22 May 1812 in Talbot County, Georgia.1

Mildred married Joel Hurt BURT, son of Zacheus BURT and Elizabeth BURT, on 17 January 1833 in Talbot County, Georgia.2,3

Joel died on 8 June 1847 in Pleasant Hill, Talbot County, Georgia, at age 40 leaving Mildred Ann OWEN as a widow.1,4

Mildred Ann OWEN appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 1860 in Talbotton, Talbot County, Georgia. The household was listed as Mris. Mildred Owen Burt was 37, a widow with $4,000 of real estate. She owned $3000 of real estate in 1860, with $17,270 of personal estate. Her daughters, Emily, 18, and Mildred, 14, lived with her. She also had in her home in 1860, Martha Bryan Owen, 5, and William Daniel Owen, aged one year. Martha and William were a niece and nephew, children of her brothers Dr. John Daniel Owen and William Willis Owen, whose wives had died in 1854 and 1859. William left the home when his father married Eliza Jane Willis in 1861, but Martha was raised by Mildred.5

Mildred Ann OWEN died on 13 July 1890 in Talbot County, Georgia, at age 78.6 She was buried in Owen Cemetery, Woodland, Talbot County, Georgia.
