WOOLEY, James
(d.), b. Ire., 1801, d. 1897; came to Canada in 1836 and set. in
Montreal. He m. Elizabeth Blackwell, of Ire. Issue: Reynold, Mrs. Thomas
English, James, Jr., Margaret, Mrs. John Geary, and Francis.
James Wooley, Jr., was only ten years of age when he came with his parents to Maryborough in the early fifties, and with them experienced all the vicissitudes of pioneer life. He helped clear the 100 acre farm, which he later succeeded to and still owns. He m. Jane Madill, and of their children the following are living: Mary A., Margaret E., Ida A., Thomas J., Amelia, Matilda, Francis E., Walter J., Bertha and Samuel O. James Wooley, Sr., was a member of the Eng. Church, and in politics was a Conservative. He was a sturdy citizen and lived to a very old age. James, Jr., is a member of the Meth.
