WOODMAN, W. G.
(d.), was b. London, Eng,. and d. 1896, age 84. He came to Canada about
1838, and taught school in Waterloo and Wellesley Tps., for about six years.
Later he was a general merchant at Linwood, agrer which he retired to
Moorefield. He was Assessor and Returning Officer of Wellesley for years. In
politics he was a Reformer.
He m. Letitia Robinson. Issue: George, Muskegon, Mich.; William, Henry (d.), 1904, Seattle; Mrs. George Wright, Clarksburg; Mrs. Joseph Williams, Winnipeg; Edwin, Olds, Alberta; Thomas, Seattle; Arthur C., Drayton; and Matthew, at Walkerton. Arthur C. was b. and raised in Linwood. At the age of 15 he went to Berlin for three and one half years, and learned the tailoring trade. About 1873 he came to Drayton and followed his trade with John White until 1902, with exception of three years, from 1881 to 1883 in the Western States. He was School Trustee a term, in the Village Council for one year; and in 1896 was appointed Clerk, which position he still holds. In 1902 he was appointed Police Magistrate, and in 1905 Notary Public. He is in the Real Estate and Fire Ins. Business, and does conveyancing. He is a Methodist, and an Independent Reformer. He m.
