WOODDISSE, Joseph
, whose portrait appears upon another page, was b. Derbyshire, Eng.,
and d. 1896, age 78. He came to America in 1850, and set. in Bellevue, Ohio,
where he lived for about 8 years, when he purchased a farm in Wood Co., Ohio,
where he remained about 17 years. He had no means, but acquired this property
by his own exertions. He came to Canada, and Maryborough Tp., in 1875, and
purchased 50 acres, west quarter, lot 12, con. 7, where he stayed for about
four years. He was then in Peel for about 10 years, when he returned to
Maryborough in 1888, and purchased 200 acres, lot 13 con. 13, upon which he
lived until his death. He was a member of the English church, and a Liberal in
politics. He m. Cecily Baggagley, who d. in 1895. Issue: Edmund, Mrs. Wm.
Lowrey, Maryborough; Thomas and James.
Edmund, b. in 1856, managed the property in Ohio until 1890, when he came to Maryborough. He had previously been in Maryborough from 1875 to 1879. Thomas, James and Edmund own the farm of 200 acres. They raise Ayrshires for milking and for sale. They are members of the English church, and in politics are Reformers. Edmund is a Director of the Peel and Drayton Agr. Society, and Vice-Pres.
