WILSON, James , b. Edinburgh, was a miller by occupation. He came to Canada some time before 1833, and followed his occupation at Fraser's mills, for a time, and then was in Indian Lands, Glengarry Co. for a few years. He then worked at Doon mills until 1849, when owning to the persuasions of James Butterworth, elsewhere mentioned, who had worked with him at Fraser's mills, he came to Maryborough Tp. and bought 100 acres, east half lot 14, con. 10. He continued to follow his occupation and was one of the early millers of Hollin. He also started the machinery moving in the first Drayton mill. He was a staunch Presbyterian, attending the Pres. Church at Rothsay, of which he was an Elder for years, and was a Liberal in politics. Mr. Wilson was one of nature's gentlemen, mild and quiet, but very popular with his acquaintances. He m. Jane Morrison. Issue: Daniel, b. 1833, set. N. Dakota; Mrs. J. D. Fawcett, b. 1840, at Drayton; James, Santa Cruz, California; George Agnes, Toronto; Mrs. Rich. Johnston, Vancouver, B.C.; Mrs. Driscoll, Toronto; Mrs. J.J. Doan, Mt. Forest.

George, b. 1847, Indian Lands, Glengarry Co., was 2 years old when he was brought to Maryborough Tp. He was raised on the homestead, 75 acres of which he now owns. He cleared the place, ad carries on mixed farming. He has been Trustee S.S. No. 17, for 25 years and Sec.-Treas. For the last ten years. He takes a great interest in school maters, his hobby being school children's drill and parade. S.S. No. 17 was the first school to give drill parade exhibitions and took the first prize ever given for school drill at the Drayton Fair. He was for three years director of Rothsay cheese factory, and is a member of the Drayton Library Board, a Director of the Peel and Maryborough Mutual Fire Ins. Co, and has been a Director of the Peel and Drayton Agr. Society. He m. First Amy E. Hartney, of Drayton. He afterwards m. Catharine A. Johnson, of Guelph. Issue: Lorne G., in Moosejaw, Katie M., and Annie E., William C., and James O., all at home.
