WHITE, John , b. West Garafraxa, 1867. Mr. White is one of largest land owners in West Garafraxa, and perhaps one of the most prosperous. He is a large buyer of cattle and other stock. He owns 400 acres, and resides on lot 15, con. 2, where he settled in 1892. As an evidence of his enterprise, he has had a telephone line specially erected from Fergus to his own residence, and in this stands alone in the township, for progress individually. He has inaugurated many reforms and improvements by which the farmer largely benefits, for instance , he supplies the farmer with, corn fodder, etc. at first cost,. He is a leading spirit in every movement to advance the interests of the farmer in his township and county, and in himself his career is a verification of the well-known proverb—"Nothing succeeds like success," Mr. White has never sought public office , but he is highly respected, and by his integrity, commands the confidence of all. He is a Presbyterian and ad Conservative. In 1893 he m. Alice Burns. Issue: Marie, John, James, and infant daughter.
