THOMSON, Hugh (d.), b. Perthshire, Scot. He came to Canada in 1851 and set. in West Garafraxa in 1858, where he rook up 150 acres, lots 12, 13 and 14, con. 5. He was a Presbyterian, and a Liberal. Mr. William B. Thomson, his son, now owns and occupies the homestead, a part of which was cleared when it came into his possession. Mr. Thomson improved it to its present splendid condition and has a magnificent brick residence and bank barn 60 x 80 and one of the best fenced farms to be found in the township. He is a Presbyterian and a Liberal. He m. Mary Bowman in 1878. They on one adopted dau. Katie S.

Walter Thomson, b. Perthshire, Scot 1839, is a son of the late Hugh Thomson, and own and occupied 150 acres. lot 14, and east quarter of 15, con., 4 West Garafraxa. Since taking over the 100 acres of his father's, he has added 50 acres more, to the north facing the 5th concession. Nearly all of this land is in a high state of cultivation, well fenced with good barns and outbuildings. He has the pioneer log house, the south original part of which is the oldest in the township. He is a Presbyterian and a Liberal. He m. Sarah, dau. of Donald McKenzie, a pioneer of Erin. They have one son, Hugh, who ably assists his father in carrying out their large agricultural undertakings.

George, son of the late Hugh Thomson, owns and occupies lot 23, con. 4, West Garafraxa. A sister, Mrs. George Mitchell, resides in Eramosa.
