TAYLOR, John Sr., was b. Scot., 1840, and came to Canada and to Hastings Co. with his father, the late George Taylor, in 1857. The latter d. three years later. John Taylor, Sr., m. Florentine Totten and in 1880 they came with their family to Eramosa, where he bought the present farm of 200 acres. Issue: John, Jr., and William. The latter lives in Alberta.

John, Jr., m. Catherine Bernard in 1903. Issue: Florence M. He owns the farm conjointly with his father, and it is considered one of the best improved farms in Eramosa. They carry on mixed farming, making a specialty of dairying. John Taylor, Sr., was for some years a breeder of thoroughbred cattle. He has always been an active man, of excellent judgment, and uniformly successful. He has the confidence and respect of the community. In religion the family are Presbyterians, and in politics adhere to the Liberal party. The late George Taylor had six children, three of whom came to Wellington Co., viz: John, Sr.; George, Jr., of Guelph, and Mrs. James Chapman.
