SWEENEY, John
, was b. in Nichol Tp., in 1844, where his father was one of the first
settlers. Upon going to Arthur in 1877, his intention was to buy grain, but he
decided to try farming, and purchased the present homestead of 100 acres, lot
31, O. S. R. He has been very successful, and had acquired his property by his
own exertions, and has given his family good educations. He is much respected
in the neighborhood; a Roman Catholic, and a Conservative. He m. Julia Nunan.
Issue: Mrs. Joseph Sullivan, Pilkington; Ursula and John, at home; James,
teacher in Peel Tp.; Dennis, Paul and Harold, at home; and three d. in youth.
