STEVENS, Nicholas (d.). The late Nicholas Stevens, of Cornwall, Eng., was a yeoman, retired. He was b. in 1819, and m. Jane Thomas, who was b. in 1821, and d. at the age of 45. Mr. Stevens d. in 1894, leaving all of his family well off. Issue: Mary (d.), Annie (d.), Alfred S., Joseph and Jessie (d.).

Alfred S. b. in Cornwall, Eng., in 1855, came to Canada in 1883, bringing considerable money with him and bought the farm in the east half of lot 8, con. 12, of Peel Tp., known in early pioneer days as the "Wagner farm." He is a practical farmer, feeding cattle for market, and raises Durham cattle and pedigreed Yorkshire hogs. Mr. Stevens is a man of good standing in the community; a religious man and possessed of business enterprise. He is a Methodist and a Liberal in politics; has never sought office. He m. Kate Udy, b. Cornwall, Eng. They have 6 children, all living at home: Nettie J., Annie E., Wilfrid A., Norman A., Orley H., Leslie E.

Joseph, m. Sarah Betallick, and is living in Eng., on a large sheep farm at Cheltenham. Issue: Marion, Leslie, Hilda, and Ethel.
