SPOTTON, Anson , son of the late John Spotton, who was b. in Co. Cavan, Ire., 1840, and came to Rochester, N.Y., in 1859, and in 1860 went to Cavan Tp. and remained until 1866, any [sic] then came to Howick Tp., where he bought 100 acres, lot 27, con. 13, and there set. He later bought a farm near Gorrie, where he remained until his death in 1897. He m. Louisa Meyers. She is living in Toronto with her daughters. He never sought or held municipal office.

Anson Spotton was b. in Howick in 1870. He was educated at the public schools in Howick and Brockville Collegiate Institute, graduating in arts at Toronto University in 1896, and in law from Osgoode Hall in 1899, and commenced to practice of his profession in Harriston the same year, where he is still located. He has the confidence of the people of the district and has built up an extensive law practice in Harriston. He unsuccessfully contested East Huron for the Ontario Legislature in the Conservative interests in 1902 against A. Hislop. He m. Jennie Greer (d.). Issue: Jack. He has been President of the Liberal Conservative Association for Minto and Harriston for some years, and is a member of the Harriston Council.
