SNOW, John Norris , was b. Dec. 29th, 1814, in Eng., and was a son of George Snow, b. in 1793. He was a miller by trade and came to Canada in 1860, settling in Hamilton, and in 1867 came to West Garafraxa. After coming to Wellington Co. he worked at his trade during the winter months in the old grist mill at Fergus, and at clearing his farm in the summer. He also was a veterinary surgeon. He owns 200 acres of land on con. 8. He m. Dorothy Elizabeth Jacques, who was b. Nov. 10, 1820, in Ancaster, Eng., and when but a child came to this country with her parents. John Jacques, who d. Sept. 11, 1870, age 82 years, and her mother, Dorothy Jacques, who d. June 18, 1863, age 75 years.

Dorothy E. Snow passed peacefully away from this world of Feb. 16, 1904, in her 83rd year. She has one brother living who is 77 years old, eleven children, an unbroken family: six daughters and five sons. The eldest, Mrs. Norrington, is 64 years old, the youngest, Mrs. Wm. Flewelling, is 41 years old. James Norris Snow, by being a kind faithful son to his mother is unm. and has the old homestead, and by much improvement has brought it to a very high state of cultivation, and has a very pretty place, which is called "Beaver Meadow Farm." It received its name a great number of years ago, as when Mr. and Mrs. Snow set. on their farm, the beavers had over one acre cleared for them. Mr. John Norris Snow's four sons are all farmers in the 8th concession West Garafraxa. George farms lot 22.

John Jacques Snow, b. 1838, West Garafraxa owns and occupies 100 acres, lot 17, con. 8, which he purchased from the Hamilton Loan Co. in 1891, and by much tile draining and other scientific treatment has brought to a very high state of cultivation. He m. Fanny Maria Benham, in 1875. They have four sons and two daughters. His eldest son, James, owns a fine farm about four miles from Arthur, and his second son, William, is farming at Last Mountain Valley, Strassburg, Sask. Thomas A. Snow owns 100 acres, west half of lot 2, con. 8.
