SLIMMON, John (d.), late of Peel, was b. in Aberdeenshire, Scot., 1819, and d. 1895. He came to Canada 1844, set. in Darlington Tp. In 1851, he came to Peel, settling on lot 16, con. 6, at the time when that section of the country was known as "Queen's Bush." He bought out some squatters, and cleared his 200 acres from the stump. He was a strong, vigorous man, highly respected, a good farmer, and one of the Managers of the Glenallan Presbyterian Church, and was a Liberal in politics. He m. Grace Watson, who d. in 1901, age 73. Issue: Robert, m. Miss Cornish of Eng., and is retired in Glenallan; James (d.) in Drayton in 1888; John, William W., David T., and Thomas.

John, owns 100 acres, lot 12, con 6, Peel. He m. Susan Armstrong. Issue: John W., Jean, James, Maggie, Frank, Gladys, Mary, Agnes, and Kenneth.

William W. Slimmon, was b. in Peel Tp., in 1857. His home farm of 100 acres is the west half of lot 8, con. 3, to which he has added, by purchase, 50 acres across the way, on lot 8, con. 2. He is engaged in mixed farming, raises thoroughbred Durham cattle, and carriage and heavy draught horses, which he exhibits at various fairs with great success. He is a prosperous and up-to-date farmer, and highly respected. He is an Elder, and one of the Managers of the Glenallan Presbyterian Church, and in political views, he is a Liberal. He m. Esther Sutherland of Peel Tp. Issue: Jennie Eva, and Marjorie, both at home.

David T., m. Sarah M. Stickney, and set. in Drayton. Issue: Lorne. He owned part of the old homestead in Peel, which he sold, and started in the livery business in Drayton, but later sold out.

Thomas, son of John Slimmon (d.), owns 100 acres, part of the old homestead, east half of lot 16, con. 6, Peel. He m. Eliza Longman. Issue: Florence.
