SKELTON, J. M . , is a son of Hugh Skelton of Shelburne, Ont. He was b. in Caledon, and came to Palmerston in 1897. He is a member of the firm of Howe, Skelton Co., dealers in general dry goods on Main St. Palmerston, where they purchased the business from Peter Campbell. Mr. Skelton is a member of the Presbyterian Church, and a Conservative in politics. He was a member of the Palmerston Council for two years, and served as Mayor in 1903-4, at a time when matters of great importance to the town were under consideration, and were brought to a successful termination during his term. On the 17th of June 1892, he m. Miss Margaret Crozier, dau. of Rev. H. Crozeir of Grand Valley. She d. leaving him two children, Franklin Crozier, and Alexander De Vere. On the 11th of July 1905, he m. his present wife, Miss Ethel Henderson, a dau. of Rev. Dr. Henderson of Palmerson.
