SHORT, John O
. (d.), was b. Devonshire, Eng., 1845, and came to Canada in early youth with
his parents, who set. in Darlington Tp., where he waspractially raised. He
learned the blacksmith's trade, which he carried on in connection with farming.
He m. Annie Underhill. Issue: Frank J., and Mrs. A. W. Johnston. The late John
O. Short, was a man of wide reading, and great information. He took an active
interest in the Meth. church, being a local preacher and a class leader for
years. As a citizen, he was progressive, enterprising, and very successful. He
came to Maryborough Tp., in 1889, where he lived until his death in 1901,
respected by all who knew him.
Frank J., b. Darlington, 1871, m. Maud. E. Findlay, and succeeded his father to the Maryborough Tp. homestead, of 150 acres. Like his late respected father, he is an enterprising citizen, and takes an active interest in church matters, being a Trustee in the Quarterly Board, and a Sabbath School teacher. He has been a Director of the Agricultural Society, Farmers' Institute, and Wyandotte Cheese Factory, and is a member of the C. O. F., in which he has been Chief Ranger. In politics he is a Liberal.
