SHAW, William H . (d.), b. Co, Armagh, Ire., 1807. He came to Canada in 1830 and set. first in Clarke Tp. There he remained six years, when he purchased a farm in Darlington. In 1841 he m. Elizabeth McLaughlin. He was successful both in Darlington, and Clarke Tps., and in 1874, he sold his farm and came to Wellington Co., settling first in W. Garafraxa, and in 1878 he came to Eramosa, settling on lot 30, con. 3, (200 acres), where he lived until his death in 1889, his wife pre-deceasing him about three months, at the age of 72. The late William H. Shaw started in life without money, and his success was attained by energy and industry; honor and straightforwardness were cardinal virtues with him, and he held the confidence and respect of the several communities where he passed his useful life. He was a Deacon in the Congregational church for years. Issue: Mrs. Robert Shaw, Joseph, James, and William H., Jr.,

William H., Jr., b. in Darlington, in 1846, where he was raised and educated. He came to Wellington Co., with the family in 1874, and in 1878, set. in Eramosa, where he has since resided, and is one of its most influential and respected citizens. He owns 200 acres of land, lot 30, con. 3, where he carries on mixed farming, going to some extent into thoroughbred Shorthorns. He m. Hannah Lyness, who was a native of Co, Armagh, Ire. Issue: Albert H., set. in N.-W.; William, Jr., set. Hamilton; Samuel G., who assists on homestead; Welcome T., school teacher; Elizabeth m. Jos. Rutherford, set. Eramosa; Ida, Annie M., and Thomas F., at home.

Mr. Shaw is an Elder in the Pres. Church, and in politics is a Liberal.
