SCOTT, Thomas , (d.), b. Roxburghshire, Scot., 1790, d. N. Dumfries, Ont., 1844. He m. Margaret Hewitt in Scot., who d. in 1877, age 71 years. They came to Can. in 1831 and set. in N. Dumfries, where he bought 125 acres, lot 8, con. 8. They were pioneers in that township, where they lived and raised their family. Issue: Thomas, John, Adam, James, and Mrs. Wm. Wallace. John and Adam removed to Howick, the others remained in N. Dumfries.

James, b. N. Dumfries, 1837, was raised and always lived there. He started in life at 15 years of age, without means, and has risen to a position of competency and influence, being the owner of 600 acres of land, besides other property. He m. Isabella Anderson. Issue: Jessie, Thomas, Mrs. Archibald McPherson, George, Mary E. (d.) Jane C., James M., Herbert V., and William A.

In 1894, James Scott purchased lot 8, con. 1, Eramosa, 192 acres. This farm is one of the choicest in that far-famed township, and is managed by his son, Thomas Scott.
