SCARROW, Henry (d.), was b. in Eng. and came to Canada about 1836, and set. in Eramosa. As a young man he helped to clear the Fergus Common. He farmed for a time in Eramosa, and then sold his property and went to Michigan for some time, returning to Eramosa and farmed there for a few years, but finally set. on lot 25, con. 6, West Garafraxa, where he died in 1896, age 76. He m. Isabella Bowles, who predeceased him by a few months. The are both buried in the Carmel Cemetery in Garafraxa.

Morris Scarrow id the third son in his father's family, and the only one in Ontario. He was b. in Eramosa in 1846. He first set. for himself on lot 28, con. 6, West Garafraxa, purchasing afterwards 100 acres of lot 29, making 300 acres in all. The latter is now owned by his son, John A., with 50 acres, and the original 200 acres, the remainder of the farm being owned by his son Edmund. Mr. Scarrow cleared most of this farm from the original forest and encountered many hardships, often losing by predatory wolves. Eventually he succeeded in becoming a well-to-do farmer. He owns 100 acres in the west half of lot 15, con. 4, Luther, and 74 aces lot 28, con. 1, Arthur, where he now resides. On the Luther property are a mill and store, as well as other buildings. Mr. Scarrow has served on the Township Council and held many offices in the Methodist church. He gave his family a good education, and both sons and daughters are well m., and are much respected in their respective neighborhoods. The Scarrows are Conservatives in politics. In 1867 he m. Mary Ann Cook. Issue: Morris Henry (d. young), Mrs. Adam McMullen, Luther; Mrs. Edward Armstrong, Guelph; John A., Edmund, Mrs. Wesley Greenaway, West Garafraxa; David (d. young), Mary A., and Harold R., at home.

John A. Scarrow, set. on lot 9, con. 6, West Garafraxa. He m. Mabel Boys of Fergus. Issue: Hazel G., Dora L, and Lucie O.

Edmund m. Zilpha Stephens, and set. on his father's homestead, which he now owns.

John A., and his brother Edmund are successful farmers, and have much improved their properties.
