ROBINSON, William
, b. Winteringham, Eng., 1828. He came to Canada as a young man , with his
brother and worked for a farmer in Pickering Tp. for one year at $8 per month,
and another year at the same wage, in Reach Tp., taking a yoke of oxen for pay.
He then went to Woodstock, and worked in a brick yard, and at farming at odd
seasons for two years, and saved some money. Deciding to be his own master, and
hearing of the Queen's Bush, he came to Maryborough in 1853, and purchased 100
acres, lot 3, con. 1, which he cleared, and has since lived upon. He has been a
successful farmer. In religion he belongs to the English church, and is a
Conservative in politics. In 1866 he m. Miss W. Proudlove, at Millbank. Issue:
William, Man.; Mrs. J. Barlow, Winnipeg; Mrs. Alfred Bodfield, London;
Margaret, in Winnipeg; Edward, unm., at home, operates the farm; George (d.
17), Mrs. M. Gibb and Alice at home, and John (d. 6).
