ROBB, Peter, Sr. (d.), B. Perthshire, Scot., 1800; d. 1884. He was raised and educated in Scot., and m. Isabella Brown, who d. 1895, age 89. Issue: James, Peter, Jr.; Alexander, John, in B.C.; Mrs. James Ross,, Mrs. John Richardson, and Mrs. Thomas Branton., all b. in Scotland, and Edward, in the N.W., and Mrs. William Patterson, b. in Canada. The late Peter Robb, with his wife and seven children, came to Canada in 1843, and set. in Smith Tp., where they carried on farming successfully until 1849, when James and Peter, Jr., came up to Maryborough and secured 400 acres for themselves, and 200 for their father

Who followed with the balance of the family in 1851. The Robbs found their way to these farms by blazed paths through the forest, and were among the first pioneers in this part of Maryborough, Alexander and Peter, Jr., underbrushed the con. road from their place to Wallace, following the surveyor's "blaze." At that time most of the roads in Maryborough were just passable for oxen and jumpers. Their nearest mill was at Hawkesville, 18 miles distant.

The Robbs cleared their large farms, and later James and Peter, Jr., sold out, the former going to California, and the latter purchasing a large farm in Man., where he now resides.

Alexander, b. Perthshire, Scot., 1835, came to Canada in early youth with his parents, and was practically raised in Smith Tp. He came to Maryborough with the family in 1851, and experienced all the vicissitudes of pioneer life. He m. first Isabella Campbell. Issue: Mrs. James Campbell, Peter, in Mich., and John. His second wife was Louisa Dean. Issue: Mrs. Benj. McCormick, Mrs. Adam Cunningham, William Levi, Maggie, Edith, Jessie, Stanley, Ethel and Cleveland. He succeeded to the homestead, and no finer or better improved farm of 200 acres can be found in the township. Alexander Robb is one of the most progressive and leading citizens of Maryborough. His father, the late Peter Robb, Sr., was acrive in the Presbyterian church, and was Precentor in Scot. for years. His son has followed in this footsteps, and is Manager of St. Andrew's Church, Moorefield, and is an Odd Fellow. In politics he is a Liberal.
