REID, G. J
., Manager Sovereign Bank of Canada, was b. in Mount Forest, Ont., in 1866,
where he received his education. For two years he taught school near Listowel.
He the accepted a position with J. Halstead & Co., private bankers, as junior
clerk, and remained with them seventeen years, being advanced from time to
time. On March 1, 1904, he accepted a position as Manager of the Sovereign Bank
at Mount Forest. He has been for eight years Treasurer of the town of Mount
Forest, and is a public-spirited, enterprising and popular citizen.
