REID, Alexander (d.), b. Co. Down, near Belfast; d. 1897, age 66, was a cattle drover in Ireland, and came to Canada in 1859, settling first in Beverly Tp., where he remained until 1870; then coming to Puslinch and purchasing 90 acres, lot 33, front con. 7. He was a very active man, and in addition to his farming, dealt in cattle, bringing them from the northern part of the county. He was a Presbyterian and a Conservative. He m. Margaret Reid in Ire., who is living at the age of 70. Issue: John, Mrs. William McIntosh, Crieff; Mrs. John McNaughton, Morriston, and Maggie.

John was b. in Beverly Tp., and raised on the present farm, to which he succeeded, and has increased by the purchase of 50 acres. part of lot 29, front con. 1. He carries on mixed farming. He is a Presbyterian and a Conservative; is unmarried, and his mother and sister keep house for him.
