RAWSON, Francis , was b. Burlington, Yorkshire, Eng., 1839. When he came to Canada in 1857 and landed in Toronto, he had just 50c, in his pocket, but he had good health, self-reliance, energy and an ambition to succeed. He soon found employment and worked his way up to Puslinch, where he remained six years. He then spent two yeas in Nassagaweya, coming to Guelph Tp. in 1865, and purchasing his present homestead in con. 12, which, with other farms that he has since purchased, makes his holdings at this time 381 acres of land. This has all been acquired by his own exertions. He is a straightforward, upright citizen. He m. Eliza J. Kirby, dau. of the late Robert Kirby, who came to Guelph Tp. about 1847. Issue: Ernest, Jesse, Jennie and Franklin A. Ernest m. Elizabeth McNee, and works the town line farm. Issue: George F.
