PULKINGTON, John . The late John Pulkington was b. in Cornwall, Eng., and came to Toronto Canada, in 1830, and to Pilkington in 1832, when he set. on the farm of 100 acres, on lot 13, con. 4, now owned by his son William, and known as "Mount Pleasant Farm." At that time the country was nearly all bush, and among the hardships of pioneer life was the necessity of going long distances for flour. He was an energetic, enterprising man, noted for the fine stock he kept, and a lover of good horses. He was a Methodist and a Liberal, He d. in 1857 at the age of 38. His wife was Caroline Wills, who d, in 1861 at the age of 37. Issue: Elizabeth, Jane A., William, Hannah, Mary An and Caroline.

Elizabeth m. Rev. William Codville, Baptist minister in Columbus, Ohio; Jane A., is a dressmaker in Philadelphia; William, after his father's death, upon reaching the age of twenty-one, took possession of the homestead, and by his industry and perseverance has brought the farm to a high state of cultivation. He feeds cattle for export; has twenty head of pedigreed Durham cattle, grade cattle and Yorkshire hogs. Like his father, he is a horseman, and he owns noted horse "Sir John, " reg. No. 802, time 2.26. Sir John is the sire of thirty horses that have made time under 2.30. He has also some promising colts in training. Mr. Pulkington is a Methodist and a Liberal. He m. Mariam Harper. Issue: Judson P., who is a dentist in Deseronto, Ont.; John Leslie, in the N.-W., and William Ross, a druggist in Michigan.

Hannah (d.), dau. of John Pulkington, m. William Gerrie, and set. in British Columbia.

Mary Ann, m. Robert Gerrie, and set. in Strathroy.

Caroline is a dressmaker in Hamilton.
