POWLEY, George , (d.), was b. in King Tp., York Co., in 1845, and d. in 1887, age 42. He came to Wellington Co., with his parents when he was a small boy, and worked with his father in 1868, until the age of 22, when he set. on lot 3, con. 6 Peel Tp. There was very little of the land cleared, and he improved it, and in 1884, sold it and purchased 200 acres lot 4, cons. 6 and 7, and commenced to improve it. He d. in 1887. He was a Methodist and a Liberal, and was a School Trustee for years. In 1868 he m. Elizabeth Wiles. At the death of her husband, she was left with a family of young children, whom she brought up and educated. Issue: Robert, Charles and George, Sault Ste. Marie; Mrs. Alice Rutherford, Glenmorris; Joseph and John Sault Ste. Marie; Edith and Eva at home.

Robert, unm., owns and operated the homestead. He carries on mixed farming.
