POWERS, Walker , is the son of the late Joseph Powers and Caroline Walker Powers. The former was b. in Vergennes Vt., in 1808, and d. in 1879, age 71 years, while his wife was b. in the State of New York. She is still living. They were early settlers in Clarke Tp. Durham Co., Ont., where he owned 100 acres of land, and was a much respected citizen of the community. He was a member of the Baptist church, and in politics a Liberal. Of his issue: Freeman (d. young)., Mrs. Henry Adam, resides in Oshawa; Hartwell is a retired citizen of Los Angeles, Cal. while Levi is a merchant there, and Mrs. M. Breen resides at Oshawa.

Walker b. on the Clarke Tp. farm in 1848, was raised and educated there, where he lived until 1873, when he came to Eramosa and purchased his present lot 25, con. 3, upon which he has since resided. He m. Elizabeth, dau. of the late John Johnson of the old pioneer Johnson family, of Eramosa, an has the following issue: Percy, Carret M., Maud, and Hetty.
