POWELL, Reuben
(d.). The late Reuben Powell of Toronto, was b. in York County, and resided on
lot 101, on the east side of Yonge St. He was prominent in municipal affairs,
and held the offices of Councillor and Reeve. He was a Quaker in religion, and
a Liberal in his political views. He d. in 1883, age 72. He m. Ann Armitage who
d. in 1885, at the age of 73. Their issue: Isaac, Amos W., Martha J., Eliza A.,
Louis C., Richard C., and Sarah P.
Isaac m. Elmira Watson, and set. at Indian Head. Amos E., m. Eliza Mackenzie, a relative of the Mackenzie, of the Rebellion. Mr. Powell came to Peel Tp. in 1865, and owns 80 acres of land on lot 2, con 14. He uses advanced methods in farming, and makes a specialty of dairying. He is a jovial man, well liked by his neighbors; a Presbyterian, and a Liberal in politics. Issue: Ida M. (d.), and William L., who lives at home with his father. Martha J., m. Joseph Rogers, and set. in Owen Sound. Eliza A., m. John McMillan, and lives in North York. Louis C., m. Jane Traves, set. in York Co. Richard C., m.
