PATTERSON, Alexander, was b. in Renfrewshire, Scot., in 1830. He came to Canada in 1852, and set. in Scarborough, and in 1885 he came to Minto. He is a member of the Free church, and a Manager of the First Church in Harriston. In politics he is a Reformer, and has held the office of School Trustee, and has been a Director of theCotswold Cheese Factory. In 1852 he m. Ann McCormick, who d. in 1903, age 67. Issue: Allan, Annie, m. Thomas Champion, set. Toronto; Daniel set. Toronto; Mary, m. John Ivel, living in Toronto; Robert, m. Kate Sinclair, and set. in Wallace; James (d.), John set. in Chicago; Alexander (d.), George, set. in California, and Isabella, m. Dougald Ferguson, set. Park River, N.D.

Allan Patterson owns and resides on his farm of 200 acres, lots 19 and 20, con. 4, Minto. This is one of the finest farms in the Tp., and he has acquired it through his own industry and business ability. He m. Betsy Roberts, adopted daughter of John Prain about 1873. Issue: Amelia, Betsy, Anne, Alexander, John, Nellie and Mary. Mr. Patterson is very popular, and highly respected in the community.
