MULLOY, Family, The . John Mulloy was b. in the county of Longford, Ire., in 1818, d. 1894, at the age of 77. At the age of seven years, he came with his parents to Canada, settling first in Gwillimbury Tp., Co. York. In 1850, he moved to the township of Peel, settling in the "Queen's Bush," upon an uncleared farm. Here he lived for the remainder of his life, and although a delicate man, he succeeded by industry and ability in transforming his bush lot into one of the finest farms in the Co. He was always highly respected, and exercised great influence in the community. He was a J. P.; the Coouncillor and Reeve of Peel for some years, and a member of the Co. Council.

Mr. Mulloy organized the first school in the south half, if not the whole township, in the early fifties, which was maintained by only those who sent their children, but soon after, he succeeded in having it made a free school, which has been from that time known as school section No. 1.

In religion he was a Presbyterian, and a Liberal in politics. His wife was Mary A. Daly, who survived him only a few months. Issue: Nelson, Caroline (Mrs. W. J. Bulmer), William J., David W., Charles W., and Edwin F.

Dr. Nelson is a graduate of Toronto Medical School, and practises in Preston. He m. Elizabeth Chapman of Galt. They have five daughters.

William J., succeeded to the homestead of 150 acres, lot 17, con. 3, Peel, where he has a fine home. He also has gained the respect and esteem of his fellow-citizens. He has held the various positions of Councillor, Deputy Reeve, Reeve, and Warden for the county. His first wife was Leah Bechtel. Issue: Herbert, m. Edith Matthews, set. in Peel; Allan, living in Winnipeg; David W., in Toronto; Nelson in St. Mary's. His second wife in Katie Thompson. Issue: John Howard..

David W., m. Minnie Bleeker of Marmora, Hastings Co. He has been with Armour & Co., Chicago, for 20 years. He has two children: George, and Jennie.

Charles W., is a graduate in Arts of Toronto University, and has been Head Master of Aurora High School for 10 years, and is now Public School Inspector for North York. He m. Miss Claflin of Preston, and has 6 children, Edwin F., now deceased, lived in Chicago. He m. Miss Walton of Elmira, and left two children, Clive and Frances.
