MORELL, John
, (d.). Although not as old in the settlement as many of the pioneers in the
"Paisley Block," as his coming dates from 1847, from the point of age, he was
probably the oldest man in the section, living to the extreme age of 101 years.
He was born in Oxfordshire, Eng., in 1803, and died 1904. He married Margaret
Miller in Eng., and the following family were born to them there: Mrs. George
Kayes, Henry, John, Jr., and Mrs. John Alexander.
Henry, the oldest son, was b. in Eng., 1843, and was four years old when he came with his parents to the "Paisley Block," where he was brought up. In 1869, he went to Egermont Tp., and farmed for twenty years, when he returned to Guelph Tp., and purchased the William Wilson homestead, where he lives, practically retired. He married Elizabeth Hincks, dau. of T. Hincks. Issue: Albert, Henry, Galt, Emily, Mrs. Robert McCord, John, Walter, Alfred J., and George. His sons, John and George, own and work 100 acres in Guelph Tp. John, Jr., owns and lives on the old John Morell homestead.
