MOORE, Stephen H . b. in Pickering Township in 1855. He worked with his father in Pickering Tp., until one year after his marriage, when he went to Proton Tp., and purchased a farm which was partly cleared. After improving it, he sold it at an advance, after which he rented a farm in Egermont, for five years. He then came to Arthur, and rented for 10 years, when he purchased the present home of 136 acres, east half lot 1, con. 6, which he is putting into first-class shape. Mr. Moore started in life with nothing, and has made all of his money by his own efforts. He has always been interested in thoroughbred horses, and his Clydesdales have never been beaten in any show ring. He is a Methodist, and a Liberal. In 1878, he m. Agnes Prescott. Issue: Charles G., in Egremont; Lillie, Mrs. R. A. Treleaven, Maryborough; Norman, William J., Ernest L., Sarah L., and Ophelia J.
