MILLER, James . The late James Miller, Sr., was b. in Ire., and came to Fergus, in Wellington Co. About 1849 he settled in Peel, on lot 20, con. 14, being one of the first settlers in that section. He d. in 1891, at the age of 82. He was m. in Ire. to Rose Moore. Issue: Mrs. James Miller, James, Thomas, William, John, and Elizabeth.

James Miller, Jr., was b. in Ire., and set. in Peel in 1854, on the family homestead. He was a man of quiet disposition, temperate habits, and was greatly respected. He was a Presbyterian, and a Conservative in politics. He m. Margaret Torrance, who was b. in Scot. His death occurred in 1890, at the age of 55. Mrs. Miller, left at his death with a large family and 193 acres of land, took upon herself the responsibilities of management, and with the aid of her sons, and one daughter, has made a success of farming. On their farm near the village of Alma, they have fine buildings, and a stock of high class pedigreed cattle, which are fed for export. The children are: James, Rose, John, Peter, William and Edward. James m. Eliza Mcloud, and is a farmer in Nichol. Issue: Torrance, and Muriel Isabella, Peter, and Edward, unm., are land owners in the North-West; John, William, and Rose are at home with their mother.

Thomas, son of James Miller, Sr., m. Rachel McCloskey, and set. in Huron County. Issue: Agnes, James A., John, William, and Thomas. William, m. Isabella Ferguson, and set. in Huron Co. Issue: Mary, Alice, James, Robert, William, Maggie, and Isaac (d.).

John, m. Barbara Wallace, and set. in Huron Co. Issue: Ross, Wallace, Elliot, Mamie (d.), John, Burt, and Maggie.
