MILLER, Andrew (d.), was b. Roxburghshire, Scot., 1813; d. 1893, age 80. He was a blacksmith by trade, and came to Canada in 1831, and worked at his trade in Toronto for three years, after which he went out into York Tp. and started a shop for himself, continuing until he made money enough to buy a farm in Albion Tp., Peel Co., in 1844. This farm he cleared, improved and sold in 1870, when he came to Maryborough and purchased 100 acres, lot 17, con. 6, where he lived until 1882, when he sold out and bought the farm in Peel, now occupied by the family, of 100 acres, lot 2, con. 6, where he lived until his death. He was a Presbyterian and a Liberal. He educated his family and left a fine property. In 1831 he m. Margaret Wanless, who d. In 1879, age 73. Issue: Andrew , at Stirton; George, Mrs. Thomas Cowling (d.), and John. John, b. Albion tp., owns and operates 150 acres of the homestead, lot 2, con. 6 Peel Tp. He carries on mixed farming and is successful. He is a Presbyterian and a Liberal. In 1894 he m. Salome Wells. Issue: Margaret O.; His brother George lives with him.
