MCROBBIE Family, The , were natives of Perthshire, Scot. The four McRobbie brothers, John, James, Andrew and Lodwick, came in the order named, about 1883, and were followed later by their mother.

Andrew came to Canada about 1832, stopping for two years in Lower Canada, where he worked on the Lachine canal, with James Black, father of James Black of Puslinch. He then came to Dundas, and was a foreman on the Dundas and Galt stone road. The four brothers bought 100 acres each. Andrew, purchased 100 acres, rear lot 23, con. 10. He was b. in 1814, d. 1885 at 71 years. He was Township Councillor for some years, and was the first man to go through Aberfoyle swamp on horseback., after which the Council built the road to Corwhin. He was Trustee S.S. No. 10, for about fifteen years, and Elder, Duff's Church, for over 29 years. In politics he was a Liberal, and he was a well informed and an intelligent man. He m. Margaret Grey. Issue: Margaret (d. infancy); Mrs. Wm. Kerr, Puslinch; Mrs. James Stevenson, Bruce Co.; John, Catharine, and Gilbert, twins; Rev. Gilbert, Pres. clergyman at Kemble, Grey Co.; Andrew, Guelph city; James, on the homestead, and Mrs. John Harbottle. James owns the homestead, and his sister Catharine keeps house for him, and owns lot 23, front con. 10.

John b. and raised on lot 23 con. 10, bought lot 25, front of Gore of Puslinch, in 1874, and has since lived there. He received his education at S.S. No. 10, from Peter McLaren. He was Trustee S.S. No. 6, Crieff, for 12 years. He is a Presbyterian, and a Liberal. He m. Jane Boyne. Issue: Mrs. Jas. Tennant, Maggie, at home; Andrew, Mich.; Caroline, at home, and two d. in infancy.

Of the original brothers, John m. Margaret Cameron, nee Morrison. James, m. Christina, dau. of the late John Clark of Badenoch. No issue. Lodwick, m. Janet McPherson. He d. in 1852, age 34.
