McNAUGHTON, Peter
(d.), was b.. in Aberdeen , Scot., 1808, d. 1863. He was a practical miller by
trade, and followed this occupation in Scot. In the spring of 1837, at
Aberdeen, Scot, he was m. to Ann Grant, of Banffshire, Scot., and emigrated to
Canada. He worked at his trade at Hamilton, Ancaster and Doon Mills, until
1846, when he purchased a farm in Puslinch, lot 3, con. 4, where he settled and
lived until his death in 1863. He was a Conservative in politics, and served as
Councillor in Puslinch one year. Issue: James, Peter, Jr., Alexander, Mrs.
James Keogh, and Margaret.
James and Peter, are unm. In 1867, they purchased 98 acres, lot 2, con. 2, Div. B., Guelph Tp., and have since resided there. Reference to the Guelph and Puslinch maps will show them to be large land owners. They make a specialty of Oxforddown sheep, which are registered in the U.S. flock books Alexander is a commercial traveller. From: Historical Atlas of the County of Wellington, Ontario.
