McKERLIE, John, b. Halton Co., was one of the first settlers in Wellington Co. He was a Presbyterian and a Conservative.

John, his son, was b. in Eramosa, 1835, and set. on the town line in West Garafraxa, lot 1, con. 1, in 1865. He took an active interest in politics, and was a member of the Conservative party. In religion he was a Presbyterian, He m. Rachael Scott in 1864, whose mother was the first white child in Eramosa. Issue: Emily, John H. and Mrs. Louis Bayne.

John H. McKerlie succeeded to his father's homestead, where he carries on mixed farming. He is unm., and his sister lives with him.
