McKEE, Thomas (d.), b. Scot. He was a linen weaver by trade and came to Canada in 1843, and took up land in Wellesley Tp. Issue: Mrs. Thomas Wilson and William.

William, b. in Glasgow, Scot., in 1815, followed his father to Canada in 1844, and worked with him in Wellesley until 1850, when he came to Maryborough Tp. and located 100 acres, the west half of lot 14, con. 3. He took his clearance papers and Crown deed in 1873, and this farm has never passed out of the family. He was a weaver by trade, working at it every fall until his death, at which time there was a piece of cloth in his loom. He was a very industrious and active man, of sterling qualities and a kind disposition. He was a local preacher and a very active worker in the Methodist church, and was instrumental in securing free schools for Maryborough, without which the people of today would have had very little educational advantages. In politics he was a Reformer. In 1845 he m. Margaret D. Fleming. He d. in 1882 age 67, while she d. in 1903, age 73. Issue: Mrs. R. King (d.); John, Peterboro' ; Mrs. Thos. Faulkner, Maryborough; Thomas, Maryborough; Elizabeth (d.), James, Mary (d.), William (d.), Archibald, Alexander, in B.C.; and David, a missionary in India. James and Archibald were born and raised on the homestead, of which each has 50 acres. they were well read men, good farmers, and are Methodists and Liberals.
