McINTOSH, James Innes , proprietor of the Guelph Mercury, was b. at North Bend, Wisconsin, in 1858. He received his education at the Guelph public and High schools, and Rockwood Academy. After completing his education, he served his time on the staff of the Woodstock Review and Guelph Mecury, after which he was appointed a reporter on the staff of the Toronto Globe. In 1885 Mr. McIntosh was m. to Miss Helen Macdonald the youngest dau. of the late Mr. and Mrs. (Evan) Macdonald.

In 1885 Mr. McIntosh was appointed Private Secretary to the Hon. T..B. Pardee, Minister of Crown Lands. After the death of Mr. Pardee, he served in the same capacity for the Ron. J. M. Gibson, Hon. W. P. and Hon. E. J. Davis. In 1898 he became proprietor of the Guelph Mercury, as partner with F. W. Galbraith, and in 1906, became sole proprietor.
