McGUIRE, Thomas . McGuire, Thomas, is a son of the late Michael McGuire, of New Brunswick, who was b. in Fermanagh Co., Ire., and d. in New Brunswick in 1840 at the age of 42, leaving two sons, Hugh and Thomas.

Hugh m. Mary McGoey, and set. in Glenallan.

Thomas, b. in New Brunswick in 1832, came to Wellington Co. with his brother. They took up 1,000 acres of land in Maryborough and Mornington, some of which they gave away in order to get neighbors. Thomas retained 200 acres, which he sold and came to Peel, purchasing the farm of 130 acres on lot 6, con. 2, upon which he now resides. He carries on mixed farming and feeds cattle for market, and is a prosperous and highly respected citizen. In religion he is a Roman Catholic and is a Trustee and member of the Building Committee of his church. He is a Liberal in politics. In 1864 Mr. McGuire enlisted in the Northern army and took part in the American Civil War, fighting under Sheridan. He saw the fall of Richmond and Lee's surrender. He m. Ellen Mackay of New Brunswick. Issue: James, whom. Margaret Scott, of Macton. They have one child Ellen.
