McFARLANE, Samuel (d.), b. in Scot., 1807, and came to Eramosa about 1830, where he purchased 140 acres, lot 2, con. 2. He m. Mary McFarlane. Issue: William S., Mrs. Allan Ramsay, Mrs. James Green, and Jane.

William S. McFarlane was b. in Eramosa in 1846, where he was raised, educated and lived until his death in 1884. He was a man of great personal activity and highly respected, and was very successful financially. In politics he was a Liberal, and in religion he was a member of the Presbyterian church. He m. Rachael W. Sunley in 1875. Issue: Effie, Eliza J., George A., Mary W. and Rachael Gertrude. In 1887 his widow m. Archibald Robertson, and they have had the following issue: Mary, Margaret, and Jessie.

George A. McFarlane and his step-father carry on the farm, which has been in the family for over seventy years. They make a specialty of thoroughbred cattle, and carry on mixed farming.
