McCORMACK, John (d.), was b. Scot. 1813, and was there raised and educated. In 1837 he came to Canada and purchased 100 acres of land, lot 16, con. 3, Puslinch, where he set. This farm he cleared, and beginning life without money he rose by his own industry and good management to a position of prosperity and influence in the locality. He was a man of strict integrity and had the confidence and respect of the community. In religion he was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church, and in politics a Liberal, and while he never sought or held office, he took a healthy interest in the political questions of the day , and never failed to record his vote for what he considered the best man. He m. Catharine Wilkinson. Issue: John, Jr., Mrs. Peter McFarlane, Mrs. Donald McLeod, Mrs. William Paddock, Archibald and Malcolm. The late John McCormack, d. in 1885, age 72, while his widow passed away in 1904, aged 84 years. Of this family: John, Jr., m. Barbara Hogg, and resides on his farm of 100 acres, lot 16, con. 2, Puslinch, which has been obtained principally by his own energy. Issue: John A., and Gordon A. Archibald, who m. Ellen Coleman, and Malcolm unmarried, own and work the old homestead in conjunction. The younger generation, like their parents, are Presbyterians and Liberal in politics, and are sterling, prosperous citizens.
