McCONNELL, James , b. near Edinburgh, Scot., 1827. He was raised and educated in Scot., and m. Agnes Dickson, who d. 1895, age 75. In 1857, they emigrated with their little family to Canada and first set. at Guelph, where they lived until 1872, when they came to Maryborough, Mr. McConnell’s present residence. Mr. McConnell is a man of more than ordinary ability, an extensive reader and well posted. He has been an Elder of the Presbyterian church for years, and enjoys the confidence and respect of all who know him. Issue: John, Joseph, James, Adam, Mrs. William Bye, George, Mrs. Murray Dean, and Robert unm.

John, m. Margaret Newman, set. Maryborough, where he owns 200 acres of land.

Joseph, m. Barbara Fleming, and set. Minto, 1888. He owns 150 acres, lot 35, con. 8, Minto, and is a leading citizen of that township. Issue: Harry S. James, m. Christina White, set. Minto, owns 100 acres con. 2. Issue: Lillie M., Robert J., Rubina and Beatrice.

Adam, m. Mary Davidson. Is a carpenter in Moorefield.

George, m. Agnes Walker, set. in Maryborough, where he owns and farms 100 acres. Issue: Leila and Irene.

Robert is in the N.-W., near Moosejaw.

The McConnells, from small beginnings, have acquired large properties in their respective localities and are representative citizens.
