McBAIN, Peter
(d.), b. Aberdeen, Scot., 1824, d., 1904. He came to Canada in 1859, and set.
in Upper Nichol, and in 1877, moved to West Garafraxa, where he owned 140
acres, lot 7, con. 3. The late Mr. McBain, was one of the sturdy type of good
farmers, and his memory, as well as that of his wife, still lives in the
thoughts of the many people whom he helped and befriended. He was a
Presbyterian, and a Liberal. In 1856 he m. Margaret Brockie, who d., in 1884.
His only daughter, Miss Jean McBain, is the owner of the homestead and with the
aid of a manager, whom she employs, successfully carries on the farm, and its
well tilled fields attest to her excellent methods.
