MAIN, John . The late John Main, of Pilkington, was b. in Cornwall, Eng., and d. in 1855, aged 44. He came to Camada about 1833 and set. in Vaughan Tp., and ten years later in Pilkington, on lot 15, con. 4. He m. Ada Brinton, who d. in 1904, aged 91. Issue: Mrs. Geo. Wright, set. in Pilkington; John, m. Elizabeth Bosomworth, set. in Pilkington; William, Thomas, m. Christina Arthur, set. in Pilkington; Mrs. Geo. Howlett (d.), and Mrs. Thomas Arthur (d.), set. Hamilton, William owns 200 acres on lot 10, con. 4, and lot 11, con. 3. He has a good farm, with fine stock, and is largely engaged in feeding cattle for export. He takes a great interest in educational matters and has been School Trustee for 9 years. He is a Liberal politics. His first wife was Hannah Jane Boys. Issue: Mrs. Robert Short, set. in Pilkington; L. Leslie, m. Sarah Bowes, set. in British Columbia; Reginald W., m. Maude Purdy, set. B.C.; Walter W. at home; Harry, in the Canadian Bank of Commerce at Winnipeg. His second was Jennie Sangster Brydon.
