MAHON, Patrick (d.), b. Co. Mayo, Ire., 1791, d. 1872. Patrick and Dominick Mahon, brothers, came to Canada in 1831, stopping a few months in Toronto, then coming to Puslinch and buying lots 21 & 22, con. 8, with the idea of building a mill on this property; but finding the water power insufficient, abandoned the project. Patrick Mahon, m. Barbara A. Burke, in Ire. Issue: John (d.), Mary (d.), Annie, James, Peter, Mrs. John Foster and Barbara (d.). Peter Mahon was b. on the Puslinch homestead in 1840, d. 1895. He obtained the rudiments of an education S.S. No. 4, but supplemented this in after years by extensive reading, and he became a well informed man. He was largely instrumental in the organization of Farmers' Institute work in the county of Wellington. He was also a Councillor of Puslinch for many years, and managed the Model Farm for one year. He was School Trustee of S.S. No. 4 for many years. He succeeded to the original homestead, and later purchased 250 acres , lots 19 & 20, con. 9,. He m. Mary Fleming, Issue: Patrick J. (d.), Jennie, sister in the Loretto Abbey; Barbara, William, at home; Thomas, at home; Maggie , Catharine, John and Joseph.
