MAGAFFIN, James was b. Co. Armagh, Ire., and came to Canada in 1846, and set. in Caledon Tp. He was twice m., first family: James, in Toronto; David, Woodstock; Mrs. Mulligan, Toronto, and one in Hamilton. Second family: Thomas, Mrs. Jno. Wittick, Man.; Eliza, d. unm.; George, d. 1903, London Tp.; Mrs. Robert Bell (d.), Man.; Albert, California; Alexander (d.), Brant Tp.; William (d.), California.

Thomas, b. 1837, and d. in 1886, age 49, was nine years of age when he came to Canada. The family settled on lot 5, con. 11, Peel Tp., and were pioneers there. In 1864 he bought his farm of 100 acres in Wallace, lot 12, con. 9, which he cleared and lived upon until his death. He was School Trustee for years, a Methodist and a Conservative. He m. Hannah Smith: Issue: Mrs. George Melville, Wallace Tp.; James, on Wallace homestead; Minnie, living with James; William, John G., in Wallace Tp.

William, b. and raised in Wallace Tp. In 1899 he bought 100 acres, the east half of lot 6, con. 10, where he has since lived with the exception of one year in Brantford. He carries on mixed farming, and is a Methodist and a Conservative. He m. Fanny Brown, of Wallace Tp. No issue.
