MADDAUGH, John (d.), b. Germany, 1816, and d, 1900, age 84. He came to Canada in 1824, when a young man, and worked in Forbes sawmill, lot 35, con. 10, Puslinch. He later purchased 100 acres in East Flamboro, near the Puslinch line, and lived on this farm, until he retired from active life a few years before his death. He was a Deacon in the Baptist church, and took an active interest in its affairs. In politics he was a Liberal, and while he took a healthy interest in the party, he never sought or held office. He m. Catharine Watson. Of his family of thirteen, only one, Robert, set. in Puslinch Tp. Another, Archibald Maddaugh, is connected with Clement Lumber Co., of Guelph.

Robert Maddaugh was b. and raised on the East Flamboro farm. In 1875 he purchased 93 acres. lot 38, Gore of Puslinch. About 1885 he bought 67 acres adjoining on lot 39, of the Gore. He carries on mixed farming, making a specialty of dairy business, and has been very successful. He is a Liberal and a Baptist. He m. Elizabeth Hampton, dau. of late William Hampton, formerly of Puslinch. Issue: Charles, Mrs. Thos. Agnew, (Mr. Agnew is a foreman of the Clark & Conley Co.), Ella B., and Ethel M.
