LYTLE, William, b. Co. Sligo, Ire., 1835, and came to Canada in 1861, and worked for farmers for some years, after which he took up the present homestead of 100 acres, lot 14, con. 9, Arthur, from the Crown. It was at that time worth $2.70 per acre, and at the time of this writing is valued at $5,500. When he first set. upon his farm it was an unbroken forest, and he had to endure and overcome all the hardships in connection with pioneer life. He never had any financial help, and he and his family have acquired all of their property by their own efforts. They now own 448 acres clear of debt. Mr. Lyle carries on mixed farming, and feeds cattle for export. He is a much respected citizen, a member of the Church of England, and a Conservative. In 1867 he m. Margaret Armstrong. Issue: William R. and Noble, Arthur Tp.; Robert, at home; Samuel, Maryborough; and Mrs. George Noble, Moorefield.
