LYONS, Thomas , was b. Lancashire, Eng., 1838. He was a son of Robert Lyons, who was a successful merchant near Manchestser, Eng., and who left a large property to his eldest son. It might be mentioned that he was employed in early life on the construction of the Wellington, Grey and Bruce Ry., and rode on the first construction train which ran over the road. Mr. Lyons has never held municipal office, although frequently invited to do so. In politics he is a Conservative, and a member of the Church of England. Issue: Robert who holds a responsible position on the C., B. & Q. Ry., in Chicago; Benjamin (d.), Annie and William H., on the homestead with their father.
